JOIN OUR TEAM

undergraduate researchers

Our undergraduate researchers gain firsthand knowledge about infant learning and development and acquire hands-on experience with every aspect of developmental research—participant recruitment, data collections, data analysis, literature reviews, professional presentations, and peer-reviewed publications. All NYU students present their work at NYU’s Undergraduate Research Conference (URC). Students can also submit presentations to professional conferences, conduct honors theses, and co-author publications.

NYU undergraduates must be able to commit a minimum of two consecutive semesters to the lab. NYU students conduct research by enrolling in two consecutive research courses: “Lab in Infancy Research” and “Tutorial in Infancy Research” (4 credits per semester). Non-NYU undergraduates must be able to commit a minimum of a summer semester or equivalent to the lab. The courses require 12 hours of research per week (see syllabus for more information).

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE COURSE SYLLABUS We keep the courses small so that we can provide the best, possible experience to undergraduates. If you are interested, please fill out an application form and we will schedule a time to meet with you in person, give you a tour of the lab, answer your questions about the courses and the research, and help you to determine whether our lab or another lab is the best fit for your time and interests.

PROSPECTIVE DOCTORAL STUDENTS AND POSTDOCS

I am currently accepting applications for PhD students and postdocs to join my lab. I admit doctoral students through the Cognition and Perception program. If you are interested in working with me as a doctoral student or postdoc, please email me at karen.adolph@nyu.edu. Describe your background, why you are interested in working with me, and what research you hope to pursue in my lab. Please attach PDFs of your CV and transcript. If it seems like you would be a good fit, we can schedule a video call.

RESEARCH STAFF

I accept applications for lab staff on a rolling basis, depending on the current needs of the lab. If you are interested in working in the lab as research staff, please email me at karen.adolph@nyu.edu. Describe your background, why you are interested in working with me, and what you hope to accomplish working in my lab. Please attach a PDF of your CV or resume.
