How do children learn to use objects and tools appropriately and efficiently? When faced with tasks such as grasping a moving target, exploring a new object, or hammering a peg, what real-time mechanisms underlie manual actions? We observe children's interactions with various objects and tools (e.g., containers, cabinets, zippers, hammers, spoons) to understand how children discover and implement the designed actions of everyday artifacts.
